The original images and concept for Neko have been passed down through many forms of computer programs over the years. As I hear it, the first version originated on X-Windows. A nice history of Neko was available at the 老王 v p n安卓版破解 but it was deleted (frowny face!). Here is an old copy of it from archive.org.
